2023. The Hope Theatre

Written by: Kaya Uppal

Directed by: Neetu Singh

Movement Director: Raimu Itfum

Synopsis:

What if we could just be happy figuring out who we are so we could grow up with that person, instead of growing up and then figuring it out?’

4 brown girls meet at an audition for Priti Patel’s autobiographical film and realise despite the big bucks, they’d prefer to tell their own stories, from their first crushes, Sima Aunty’s attempt to host Love Island to meeting the Kardash-Asians.

Created by and starring South Asian women, Brown Girl Noise is a coming-of-age rebellion and celebration about how four brown girls find their feet on British streets.

Through dialogue and spoken word, this is a heartwarming rollercoaster of show that through laughter and struggle will take everyone on a road to self discovery.

‘With some f**king brown girl noise’

It’s youthful, bold and very opinionated and we don’t believe there is anything like this in theatre today, especially not for South Asians. It’s an ensemble price, with a blend of poetry, comedy, skits and lots of current references and memes!*
